Davis & Elkins Names Jeff Eisen as Interim Director of Athletics

ELKINS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins College President Chris Wood announced Thursday that Jeff Eisen has been named Interim Director of Athletics.

Mr. Eisen has over 35 years of experience in college athletics administration, serving in leadership roles at NCAA DI and DII institutions.  Eisen most recently served as the Vice President for Athletics at the University of Mount Olive, retiring at the end of 2021.  During his more than 16-year tenure, the athletics program grew from 14 sports and approximately 250 student-athletes to 23 sports and over 500 student-athletes.  UMO finished in the top two of the Hawn Cup standings, measuring all-sports conference excellence, in each of his last 11 years.  The average student-athlete GPA was over 3.0 during the last 22 semesters of Eisen's tenure.

Eisen has kept involved with college athletics since his retirement.  He has served as the interim director of athletics at UMO, performed several consulting projects for collegiate athletic programs, and serves as the tournament co-director of the NCAA DII Baseball Championship and a coordinator in the NCAA DII Coaches Connection program.

He takes over for the departed Patrick Snively, who moved on from the role in late December.

Prior to UMO, Eisen was the Director of Athletics at Saint Francis University for seven years.  His responsibilities included overseeing an intercollegiate athletics program of 21 NCAA DI teams with 375 student-athletes, recreation activities, and intramurals.  Eisen also worked at the University of Detroit Mercy, spending five years as the Director of Marketing and Promotions and then another five years as the Assistant Director of Athletics, and the University of Evansville as the Marketing & Promotions Coordinator.

Eisen received his undergraduate degree from Marietta College, a law degree from the University of Michigan, and a master's in sports administration from St. Thomas University.
