Welcome to Oberlin Jasmine Brown: Head Volleyball Coach

Brown Tabbed to Lead Oberlin Volleyball

Oberlin, Ohio - Oberlin College Associate Vice President for Athletics Advancement and Delta Lodge Director of Athletics & Physical Education Natalie Winkelfoos announced the appointment of Jasmine Brown as head volleyball coach.

Brown comes to Oberlin after spending the previous four years as the lead assistant coach at Denison University where she helped the Big Red total 42 victories over the program's three full seasons of competition while earning three consecutive berths into the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.

"We're excited to welcome Jasmine Brown to Oberlin College," Winkelfoos said. "Her competitive nature blended with compassion will greatly benefit our volleyball program, our athletics community, and our institution as a whole."

Brown's impact in Granville was felt immediately during her first full season as the Big Red captured the program's first-ever NCAC regular season championship with a perfect 8-0 record in conference play and a mark of 19-7 overall.

During her time in Denison, Brown helped mentor American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Americans Lucy Anderson & Daria Rodriguez. Furthermore, Anderson earned back-to-back All-America honors and was the NCAC Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022. The 2021 NCAC Newcomer of the Year, Rodriguez, was selected as the AVCA Region VI Freshman of the Year.

The recipient of the 2021 AVCA Diversity Award, Brown also developed Jenna Corrao into the NCAC Libero of the Year as a senior in 2022. In three seasons on the Denison bench, the Big Red compiled a 17-5 record in conference play and she helped produce 15 All-NCAC performers.

"I am extremely thankful and excited to be selected as the next head coach of Oberlin College's volleyball program," Brown said. "The importance of developing student athletes in a holistic manner at Oberlin heavily aligns with my values as a coach. With the resources provided and the support I've already received, I am confident that we are able to build on the foundation that was established in the prior seasons. I'm looking forward to having a positive impact in the future success of the volleyball program and the athletic department."

Prior to her time with the Big Red, Brown served as an assistant coach at Millikin University (IL) in 2019. She helped the Big Blue compile a record of 22-13, which included a 6-2 mark in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) and a spot in the CCIW Tournament Championship match. She coached four all-conference honorees, which included CCIW Freshman of the Year, Jessi Kreder.

A two-time all-conference selection as player at NCAA Division II Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, Brown was a part of a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships in 2014 and 2016 while also earning Academic All-GLVC honors in 2016 and 2017.

A native of Houston, Texas, Brown has additional coaching experience at the high school and club levels where she has honed her skills teaching proper technique and fundamentals.

She earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science from Truman State University in 2019 and recently completed a master's degree in education with a coaching concentration from Greenville University (IL).

She will officially start her duties at Oberlin on March 11.
