President of Liberty’s William Jewell College resigns

LIBERTY, Mo. (KCTV) - William Jewell College announced President Dr. Elizabeth MacLeod Walls will step down this fall.

Washington & Jefferson College in Pennsylvania hired MacLeod Walls as its next president.

She will remain in her role at William Jewell through the summer. She also plans to work with the college as it searches for a new president.

William Jewell said Dr. MacLeod Walls helped rebrand the college, increase diversity, and bring in new academic and athletic programs during her tenure.

“Serving as the 15th President of William Jewell College has been the privilege of my career,” Dr. MacLeod Walls said. “I am especially proud of Jewell’s consistent enrollment growth, the impressive diversity of our student body, and the significant support from donors and friends that has allowed us to advance our critical thinking Mission. I look forward to focusing every day of my remaining tenure to promoting the impact of a William Jewell education in Kansas City and beyond.”

William Jewell’s Board of Trustees is now starting its search for the college’s next leader.
