Albany State Athletics Announces Partnership with ARMS

Albany, GA – March 5, 2024 - The Albany State University Department of Athletics is proud to announce a partnership with ARMS, a leading technology provider for athletic departments. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in the department's commitment to providing the best possible experience for its student-athletes and creating an efficient workplace for coaches and staff.

"In a rapidly evolving collegiate landscape, it's imperative that we stay ahead of the curve," said Dr. Kristene Kelly, Director of Athletics. "We needed a comprehensive solution to manage the various aspects of our athletics program, from student-athlete communication to recruiting and eligibility workflow processes. ARMS will serve as our one-stop shop, ensuring that all campus units can communicate and operate seamlessly in a singular platform."

Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Success and Compliance/SWA, Shaquana Miller, who played a pivotal role in bringing this partnership to fruition, will lead the integration of ARMS. "After thorough research, it became clear that ARMS was the best fit for our needs. Its ability to facilitate communication across departments and manage compliance and eligibility in real time will be invaluable to our program."

This partnership is part of a broader evaluation of the athletics department during Kelly's first year in office. "With a small team, we are constantly working to implement processes that enable us to work more effectively and efficiently. My vision is to create the best experience for our student-athletes and the best workplace for our coaches and staff. This partnership with ARMS is a crucial step towards realizing that vision," Kelly added.

Assistant football coach and recruiting coordinator, Orlando McKinley, familiar with ARMS from previous experiences, shared his excitement about the positive impact it will have on his daily responsibilities. "ARMS Software is a game-changer, simplifying many of our day-to-day tasks and allowing us to have a database to store all recruiting information."

Carrie Wilder, Director of Financial Aid and member of the Intercollegiate Athletics Council (IAC) at ASU, shared her insights on the new partnership: ""Working with Ms. Miller on the procurement of ARMS software has provided an opportunity to strengthen the partnership between the Athletics Department and other departments across campus. Collaborating to secure this tool for process automation will yield operational efficiency and reduce compliance violations at Albany State University."

ARMS will enable Albany State Athletics to enhance its operational efficiency by integrating various functions into a single platform. This integration will facilitate better communication, streamline workflow processes, and improve the overall management of the athletics program.

ASU Athletics coaches and staff, along with campus partners, will begin the onboarding and training process in the coming weeks, with full implementation expected by Summer to Fall 2024.
