Men’s Soccer Proudly Announces Aaron Hoxie as New Head Coach

OKLAHOMA CITY – Coming off its winningest season in program history, the MACU men's soccer program will be adding a familiar face to lead the Evangels in 2024 as Aaron Hoxie was named the program's new head coach.

Hoxie comes to MACU after a 12-year coaching career at Sooner Athletic Conference rival Central Christian College of Kansas, a program where he amassed a 107-108-25 record and is coming off one of  its best seasons after finishing the year with a 12-5-5 overall record while going 5-4 in SAC play.

In leading the Tigers to their third NCCAA National Championship Tournament in the last four years, the Tigers advanced all the way to the semifinals before losing to the eventual National Champion Westmont University (Calif.) in a nail-biting 3-2 contest.

"I am extremely proud and honored to be named as the coach of MACU men soccer!  The support for athletics is strong from the administration, community and alumni," said Hoxie. "God has had His hand on this situation for a very long time and I am grateful for His leading.  Thank you to President Greenwald and Marcus Moeller, for entrusting me to such a prestigious program.  Special thanks to my coaching staff, particularly James (Roberson), who have been nothing short of brilliant in maintaining a high standard with the boys during this transition. Thank you to the players for welcoming me to the team. I look forward to a fruitful relationship."

During his tenure at CCCK, Hoxie guided the Tigers to the 2022 NCCAA Central Region Championship, was named the two-time NCCAA Central Region Coach of the Year, led Central Christian to its first SAC Tournament Championship game in 2020-21, and was the recipient of the highly distinguished Frank Jewell Award, a special honor presented by the NCCAA to the coach with the highest Christian character.

"We are thrilled to add Coach Hoxie to the MACU Family," stated MACU Athletic Director Marcus Moeller. "Aaron's desire to use the game of soccer as a platform for ministry and training ground to better the lives of young men through the pursuit of excellence makes him a great fit.  I have always been impressed with the job Aaron did at Central and I look forward to watching him lead our program."

Hoxie takes over a MACU men's soccer program that has been one of the most successful at the NAIA level over the last four years. The Evangels wrapped up the 2023 season with an undefeated 17-0-4 (.905) overall record and were ranked No. 1 in the NAIA for eight consecutive weeks. The Evangels won their third consecutive SAC regular season title with an 8-0-1 league mark as well as their fourth-straight SAC Tournament title after defeating Science & Arts 3-1 at the Dill Soccer Field on Nov. 9.

The Evangels will open the 2024 season on August 22 on the road as the Evangels will head to Indiana to take on the 2022 NAIA National Champions, Bethel University (Ind.).
