Clayton Garcia Headshot (2024)

Clayton Garcia

Garcia was recently hired as the new Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations at Sul Ross State University in February 2023.

Garcia, a native of Rockwall, Texas, played collegiate baseball at NCAA Division II Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva, Okla. He was a member of the program from 2011-2015.

Three arm injuries sidelined Garcia, which allowed him to become an assistant as both an undergrad and grad student.

Garcia earned his bachelors in 2015 in health and sport science while he obtained a masters in adult education and management with an emphasis in sport administration in 2018.

In addition to being a graduate assistant at Northwestern, Garcia also coached in summer collegiate baseball leagues in North Carolina, Colorado and Texas.

He then moved to Lamar, Colo., where he coached softball at Lamar Community College for one semester before obtaining his first teaching position in Woodward, Okla.

At Woodward High School, he also served as the baseball coach before moving to Shamrock, Texas, where he was the head baseball coach while also being an assistant football and basketball coach.

Garcia spent three years at Shamrock High School.

Before arriving at Sul Ross, he was in Memphis, Texas, for the last year and a half where he served as the head baseball coach.
