Taneisha Cantave Named Men's Volleyball Coach for 2023 Season

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Sarah Lawrence College Director of Athletics and Physical Education, Kristin Maile, has announced the hiring of Taneisha Cantave as the College's new men's volleyball head coach for the 2023 season.

"Coach T brings a wealth of experience to our volleyball program," Maile said. "Her energy and ability to break down the game has already energized our team and we look forward to the season ahead."

Cantave brings to the Gryphons over ten years of coaching experience at the collegiate, high school and club levels. She has been the head women's volleyball coach at Mercy College and is currently the head women's coach at Westchester Community College. Her high school experience includes coaching stints include Our Holy Child School, Irvington High School and Woodlands High School. Cantave also founded and co-directs the Westchester Pride Volleyball Club, a program designed to provide young female athletes with the training, guidance and experience necessary to play at the collegiate level.

A two-sport student-athlete at Sacred Heart University and Suffern High School in volleyball and track and field, Cantave garnered All-Conference, All-County, All-League, All-State and All-America awards, as well as being named the Journal News Athlete of the Year and participating on the Junior Olympic team (RVC). Cantave was inducted into the Rockland County Track & Field Hall of fame in 2015. She was also a standout jumper and track athlete for Suffern High School, but it was at Sacred Heart University that Cantave developed her love of coaching.

Cantave graduated from Sacred Heart University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in social work and is a member of both AAU and USA Volleyball.
