Women's Soccer: Heather Faasse Steps Down as Women's Soccer Coach

After six years as part of Norwich Athletics, women's soccer head coach Heather Faasse has stepped down to accept the head women's lacrosse coach position at Tennessee Wesleyan University in Athens, TN.

"On behalf of Norwich University, I would like to thank Heather for her many contributions to our soccer and lacrosse programs, while providing steadfast support to our student-athletes in her administrative and academic roles," said Norwich University Director of Athletics Ed Hockenbury.  "She is a dedicated and hard-working leader who is fully committed to the growth and development of each student-athlete, both academically and athletically.  Heather is also a highly respected colleague whose enthusiasm and new ideas, including her work in academic support, not only helped many individual students and coaches, but also enhanced the relationship between athletics and academics on campus.  We wish Heather well in her new endeavors in Tennessee."

"Thank you to Ed Hockenbury, previous athletic director Tony Mariano, and President Anarumo for their support and for the opportunity to lead the women's soccer and women's lacrosse programs during my time here at Norwich," said Faasse.  "As I take the next step in my career, the professional foundation I received while in Northfield I will forever be grateful for.  The experiences and relationships I built with current and former student-athletes will be something I cherish.  I thank our Cadets for their hard work, dedication, and love of Norwich.  I also would like to thank the athletics staff and coaches who have supported our program including Lynn Sobczyk and Brett Sarsfield."

After being hired in January of 2017, Faasse was an assistant coach for both women's soccer and women's lacrosse, eventually becoming the interim head coach for women's lacrosse, before being promoted to head coach for both programs in May of 2018.  Faasse held both positions until August of 2021 when it was split into two separate full-time head coaching positions.  Faasse continued in her role as the head women's soccer coach until her recent departure for Tennessee Wesleyan, compiling an overall record of 20-45-3.

With this announcement, Faasse returns to a state she is familiar with, as she previously worked at the Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga, prior to coming to Norwich.  During her time there she served as the head coach for both girls' soccer and lacrosse.  She also trained and mentored middle and upper school athletes in their respective sports to support their academic and athletic growth.

The search for the next women's soccer head coach at Norwich University is already underway.  Further information about the position can be found at https://norwich.interviewexchange.com/jobofferdetails.jsp?JOBID=158311.
