Reyes Tabbed as Women’s Wrestling Coach

MONTREAT, N.C.— Montreat College Athletics has announced the hiring of Koby Reyes as the third head coach in the history of its women's wrestling program. Reyes begins his duties with the team immediately.

Prior to Montreat, Reyes spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the men's wrestling squad at Southeastern University. Through his time at SEU, the Fire amassed 23 national qualifiers, 12 All-Americans and a pair of national champions.

From 2021 into 2022, Reyes was an assistant with the Arizona Christian University Firestorm. The Billings, Mont. native saw five national qualifiers and an All-American go through the program while on the staff.

Before coaching, Reyes competed as an athlete at a trio of NCAA Division I institutions. He began his career at Arizona State, wrestled at Boise State in 2017 and finished his college career at Purdue from 2017 to 2019.

"I am grateful to be selected by the Montreat College administration to lead the women's wrestling program," said Reyes of his hiring. "I believe the Lord has made it clear that my family and I are called to serve at Montreat College. Montreat is a special college with the framework to build a powerhouse women's wrestling program. I look forward to getting my feet on the ground and getting to work," he added.

Reyes graduated from Purdue in 2019 with a degree in sociology. He will make the move to Western North Carolina with his wife, Anne Marie, his son, Levi, and expected daughter, Noa.
