Southern Connecticut State University Director of Athletics & Recreation Terrance Jones has announced the ribbon cutting and unveiling of the SCSU Athletics & Recreation Student-Athlete Wellness Center powered by Connecticut Orthopaedics on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024 at 4 p.m. at James Moore Field House.

With the support of Official Sponsor Connecticut Orthopaedics, Southern Connecticut can now provide a space for its student-athletes that will serve multiple experience enhancing functions.
  • The learning space provides the student-athletes with a place to study and work with learning specialists and has also received a technological upgrade.
  • The secondary space provides the Owls with an area to foster community with couches, a HD television, multiple gaming consoles, foosball table and refreshments.
  • In addition, "The Owls Nest" is an area designed to enhance student-athletes recovery, equipped with zero-gravity chairs and leg compression machines as well as a state-of-the-art massage chair.
The ribbon cutting is open to the public, members of the Southern Connecticut State University community and members of the media and can be viewed live on The Owls Network. Scheduled to dedicate the space will be Southern Connecticut Interim President Dr. Dwayne Smith, Vice President of Student Affairs Tracy Tyree and Jones, as well a representative from Connecticut Orthopaedics.
