Morris Elevated to Associate A.D. for External Operations

SHAWNEE – Tanner Morris will assume the Associate Athletics Director for External Operations role after serving as the Associate A.D. for Fan Engagement/Ticketing for the past two years at Oklahoma Baptist, Director of Athletics Robert Davenport announced on Tuesday.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to grow in this profession at OBU," said Morris. "I look forward to working with current and future sponsors and donors on Bison Hill."

Morris has excelled as head of fan engagement and ticketing for the last two years, expanding the Oklahoma Baptist Athletics brand to new heights. He was promoted to his most recent title in the Fall of 2022 after serving as Assistant A.D. for Fan Engagement since August 2019.

In his new role, Morris will oversee all external functions of the department which includes administrative supervision of ticket sales, sponsorships, branding and licensing, communications, graphic design, broadcasting, marketing and fan engagement, community relations, major gifts, and the Bison Athletic Association annual fund.

He also will serve on the department's Hall of Fame committee and is the sports administrator for women's soccer.

"We are excited to promote Tanner into his new position," said Davenport. "I am confident he will continue to move Bison Athletics forward as he has already done in his previous positions here at OBU."

Prior to arriving on Bison Hill, Morris spent two years at the College of Charleston as the Cougars' Marketing and Ticketing assistant and another two years as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, the University of Southern Mississippi.

While serving as a graduate assistant for the Southern Miss Sports Marketing Department, he completed his master's degree coursework in sports management in May of 2017.

A former soccer student-athlete at Jones County (Miss.) Junior College, he served as team captain during his sophomore year. Morris later transferred to Southern Miss, where he earned his bachelor's degree in sport management.

Originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Morris resides in Shawnee with his wife, Anna Kae, their two boys Owen and Eli, and their dog, Captain.
