WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 19, 2024) -- After another record-breaking season, the King's College football program announces its most recent change on Monday afternoon. Skyler Fultz has stepped down from his role as head coach, and Mike Cebrosky has been promoted to Head Coach as announced by the King's Athletic Department on Monday evening.

Fultz plans to pursue other opportunities after his first season at the helm of the Monarch football program. The Elizabethville, Pa. native helped guide King's in his 11th overall season with the Monarchs to another record-breaking campaign in 2023, posting an 8-3 overall record and a 7-2 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) mark, with its second consecutive Centennial-MAC Bowl Series appearance. Additionally, the team recorded an undefeated 4-0 record in the regular season at McCarthy Stadium.

"Reaching this decision was a challenge," said Fultz. "While I am thrilled about a new opportunity, saying goodbye to the King's Community and the amazing student-athletes on our football team is difficult. Over the past decade, I have forged connections and relationships that I will always cherish along with memories I will never forget. Thank you to the King's College community and individuals such as Cheryl Ish, who supported me every step of the way, and Jeff Knarr, who brought me on board many years ago."

Under his guidance, the King's football program earned a program-best 13 All-MAC honorees this past fall, including the program's first MAC Offensive Player of the Year since 2000 in quarterback Russell Minor-Shaw. The Monarchs also had their second consecutive season with a D3football.com All-American as Joe Carchio was recognized for his athletic performances this season. Off the field, Fultz's team thrived academically as 40 student-athletes were honored on the Fall MAC Academic Honor Roll and four earned Academic All-MAC recognition.

"To the players - thank you does not say enough," added Fultz. "You are amazing young adults, who represent some of the best King's College has to offer. Who you are today is nothing compared to who you are going to become, and I look forward to seeing your bright futures unfold. Although my wife and I are eager to be closer to family, we will always cherish the King's Community, which has been a significant part of our lives."

Fultz spent the 2015 through 2022 seasons at King's as the quarterbacks coach and was elevated to Offensive Coordinator ahead of the 2017 campaign under the direction of coach Jeff Knarr. He also spent two seasons with the Monarchs in his first stint from 2012 to 2013 as the tight ends and running backs coach. Off the field, Fultz was actively involved in all aspects of campus life, including but not limited to his work with the College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) primarily at Special Olympics practices, Read Across America Day, and local park clean ups.

"Skyler has been an integral part of building our football program to where it is today," stated Associate Vice President and Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Cheryl Ish. "Over the last 10 years he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our student-athletes and the College community. Fultz truly embodies the NCAA Division III philosophy and always acts in the best interest of his players. I've always been impressed with Sklyer's ability to build positive relationships with everyone he encounters. As Sklyer embarks on this new chapter, I'm positive he will continue his path of success and wish him and his family the best."

It will be a smooth transition for the King's football program as a familiar and consistent face in Mike Cebrosky has been elevated to the role of Head Coach. Cebrosky completed his 13th overall season with King's at the conclusion of the 2023 campaign, ninth as Defensive Coordinator, and first as the team's Associate Head Coach.

"I would like to express my gratitude to Cheryl Ish, Dr. Anitra McShea, and President Fr. Thomas Looney for giving me this opportunity," said Cebrosky. "It's an honor to be named the next head coach of a wonderful program that I have grown with over the past 13 years. King's College is not only my workplace, but it is home. The amazing people and family atmosphere at King's College makes it such a special place. I cannot wait to get to work and continue to make King's College and our alumni proud. I look forward to not only seeing our players grow on the football field, but also in the classroom and as young men and women."

Cebrosky has spent his career on the Monarch sidelines, building the King's defense into one of the top units in the MAC, finishing in the top three in total defense in 2018, 2019, and 2023, as well as top-ranking marks in third-down percentage, points allowed per game, turnovers per game, and total yardage per game.

The defensive efforts made their mark on a national scale as well this past season, as the defense ranked fourth in NCAA Division III in the regular season in passing yards allowed per game and seventh in total defense. Individually, Cebrosky's defense saw two individuals earn All-American status as Teone Sherrod (2022) and Joe Carchio (2023) became the program's first All-Americans since the 2006 campaign.

Prior to his arrival in Wilkes-Barre, Cebrosky spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Nazareth Area High School as both the offensive and defensive line coach. The 2011 campaign at Nazareth saw the team achieve a 12-2 overall record, a PIAA District 11 Class AAAA Championship title, and a fifth-place ranking in the final Pennsylvania Football News State Rankings for that season.

A 2008 graduate of MAC powerhouse Delaware Valley University, Cebrosky earned his degree in secondary education and social studies while competing for the Aggies football program for four seasons. In his time in Doylestown, Cebrosky's teams earned MAC titles in 2005 and 2008, including an undefeated 10-0 regular season and a then school-record mark of 12-1 with an ECAC Championship title in 2005. The Aggies' Team Rookie MVP in 2005, Cebrosky started in 42 of his 45 career games and claimed one D3football.com Player of the Week honor in 2008.

"Coaching changes are never easy, but we are fortunate to have a dedicated, passionate individual to move into our head coaching role in a seamless manner," commented Ish. "Mike has been a part of this program's growth and has given his heart and soul to this team. I'm confident that he will be able to navigate this transition well. Cebrosky is a proven recruiter, and coupled with his ability to get the most out his players, I feel the program is in great hands. I look forward to working with Mike as he prepares the team for next season."

Cebrosky, who currently resides in nearby Mountain Top with his wife Alyssa and two children, Callie and Noa, will begin his duties next week as the Monarchs continue their busy recruiting season and start preparations for their spring sessions.
