ASHLAND, Wis. – After two seasons as the assistant coach for the Northland College Men's Soccer team Lee Dennis has been named Head Coach announced Wednesday afternoon in Ashland, Wis.

"I'd like to thank President Dayton, Athletic Director Daniel Schumacher, and the search committee for giving me the opportunity to lead the men's soccer program," said Dennis. "I am excited for this next chapter at Northland and look forward to continuing to build on the strong foundation that has been laid by Coach Gilmore, staff, alumnus, and current players. The 2024 season is a massive year for us as a program. I cannot wait for our spring season to get underway here shortly, and announce new additions to the squad that will have an impact right away."

Dennis has seen the success of the program on and off the field starting as a member of the LumberJacks Men's Soccer team in 2019 after transferring from Southern Vermont College. In his first season with the Jacks, he played a big role in helping Northland reach the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference playoffs for the first time in program history. The following two seasons the LumberJacks made the playoff again with Dennis finding the back of the net six times in his senior season.

After spending three seasons playing, Dennis became the assistant coach for the men's soccer team. Working under Greg Gilmore he guided the team to two more conference tournaments with winning conference records. Last season the LumberJacks went 9-10-2 overall and 8-4-2 in the UMAC, the most conference points in school history, resulting in the third seed in the playoffs.

Along with coaching at Northland College Lee Dennis has been coaching around Ashland. He was a coach for the Chequamegon Bay Soccer Club and was an assistant coach for Ashland High School on the boys' and girls' programs. Dennis founded Soccer Evolution in 2020 where he runs camps and lessons, growing the skills at the youth and high school levels. Starting in the spring of 2022 Dennis became the head coach of the girls' soccer team at Washburn High School. In his two seasons there he had a 22-9-2 record and led the team to its first regional championship in 14 years.

Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
