ST. AUGUSTINE – Dave Barnett, Flagler College's all-time winningest coach, announced today that he will retire from coaching following the end of the 2024 season.

Barnett enters his 37th season at the helm of the Flagler program and he begins his 44th year in the profession, including two years as an assistant for the Saints under former head coach Glenn Aspinwall. He is one of only four coaches to lead the Flagler program since the inaugural season in 1975.

He is in the top 20 in NCAA Division II in all-time wins with 1,025 and coached teams to the postseason in conference or regional play as an NAIA member 16 times. Flagler advanced to the regional finals twice (1993 and 2002). The Saints have reached the Peach Belt Conference tournament seven times and were regular season co-champions in 2019.

Barnett has seen 51 of his players sign professional contracts and three players (Chris Barnwell, Kyle Bird, and Blair Calvo) go on to play in the Major Leagues.

Barnett also previously served on the College's faculty, in various athletics administration roles, and as the director of athletics from 1994 to 2009.
Flagler plans to begin conducting a national search for Barnett's successor near the end of the 2024 baseball season.
