Phillips Named NCAA II National Baseball Committee Chair

INDIANAPOLIS – Embry-Riddle Director of Athletics John Phillips has been selected to serve as chair of the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee for the 2024 season. Phillips is the first Embry-RIddle administrator or coach named to a NCAA national committee and is also the first to serve as national chair.

"I am honored to serve as the national chair for the committee this year," Phillips said. "We have a dedicated group of coaches and administrators who work throughout the year to represent Division II baseball at the highest level and I'm grateful for their support."

In his role as chair, Phillips will lead a group that is responsible for the successful execution of the Division II Baseball Championship. The committee develops policies and procedures to administer the championship in an efficient and orderly manner. Committee members also chair their regional advisory committees (RAC), oversee selections to national championships and serve as the NCAA representative during preliminary-round competition and the championship finals in Cary, N.C.

This is Phillips' third year as a member of the Division II Baseball Committee.

Phillips has worked at Embry-Riddle since 1997 and is entering his 11th year as Director of Athletics. Since joining Division II in 2017-18, Embry-Riddle has captured 23 conference championships under his leadership.

Phillips is a former board member for the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) and currently serves at the Chair of the Business of Small College Athletics (BOSCA) Advisory Board.
