Carl Reynolds named Spring Hill College Men’s Soccer Head Coach
MOBILE, Ala. – Spring Hill College has selected Carl Reynolds to lead its men's soccer program as the head coach, Athletic Director Joe Niland announced Wednesday.
 
Reynolds was named the third head coach in the program's Division II era.
 
"During the search, Carl's credentials for what we were looking for stood out. His variety of experiences at the different levels and knowledge of the Gulf Coast region soccer community are very important," Niland said. "We felt Carl was the right person to lead the Badgers forward in a very challenging Gulf South Conference."

Reynolds joins the Badgers from Southern States Soccer in Hattiesburg, where he was director of soccer for the organization. Under his management, the club won multiple National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Gulf Coast Conference Tournament Championships and a Regular Season Championship.
 
The club also earned a 2024 US Open Cup bid, 2023 NPSL Elite Eight appearance and made multiple appearances in the conference tournament. Notably, in 2022, the club became the first in United States history to achieve a third-round US Open Cup appearance. In its inaugural season. In 2020, he led Southern States SC U19 to a NPSL U19 Championship.
 
"I would like to thank Athletic Director Joe Niland and the search committee for their trust in me to lead the program. Ever since I was contacted, I have felt their passion for the soccer program and I am extremely excited to take up this new challenge with Spring Hill. I will be joining an athletics department with staff clearly dedicated to the long-term growth of its student athletes," Reynolds said.
 
"Mobile is surrounded by a great soccer community, and I look forward to bringing a brand and team that the staff, faculty, students and community can be proud of," he continued.
 
"I have great belief in what we can build here at The Hill. The players can expect a different approach, a modernized attitude, and clear vision of the standards and expectations involved with being a student athlete at Spring Hill. Rest assured this is a new era for men's soccer, and the work has already started."

He built Southern States Soccer from the ground up, starting with its youth academy in 2016. He brought enrollment numbers from 13 to 500 in just six years. Since then, the club has become a regional powerhouse on and off the field. He also paved the way to a massive multi-million-dollar soccer facility for the club in southern Mississippi.

Prior to his time in Hattiesburg, he took his first head coaching job at Pearl River Community College (NJCAA) in 2015. While in Poplarville, he led the Wildcats to a Mississippi Junior College State Championship and an undefeated Regional Championship.

Before his time at PRCC, he joined renowned MLS club New York Red Bulls and led its academy. In his time there, he developed some of the best youth soccer talent in the nation.

In 2013, he accepted an international opportunity as an assistant coach with Sporting De Gijon U15 in the Spanish Segunda B league.

Before his international experience, he returned to his alma mater, William Carey University, in 2011 to become an assistant coach. In his time coaching the Crusaders, his staff produced multiple NAIA All-Conference, All-Region and All-American players. In his first year, he helped the team to a NAIA Final Four appearance. The following season, he led the squad to a Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championship.

His professional playing career was spent with Chattanooga FC, who has had a successful run in the NPSL.

Reynolds collegiate career in the states started in 2007 at William Carey, where he played to the tune of two All-American honors. He earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science, as well as both of his master's degrees in performance psychology and child & adolescent counseling psychology from WCU.

Prior to arriving to the United States, he earned a national diploma in sport and exercise science from Cirencester College in 2006. He also rose through the academy systems at Chelsea, Reading and Swindon.
 
Reynolds has two daughters, Lena Grace and Brooklyn.
