Kwadjo Steele was appointed as the Coordinator of Student-Athlete Academic Support Services at North Carolina Central University in January 2015, after serving as the Assistant Athletics Director at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro since 2008.
 
With 10 years as a professional in academics and student development, Steele began his career as the Director of Academic Compliance at UNC-G (2004-2009), where he directed more than 250 student-athletes with resources for campus life, community service opportunities and student safety. One who enjoys working with students, Steele says the he wants to “help change the culture of collegiate athletics.”
 
In 2000, Steele received his bachelor of science degree in zoology from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He later received his master of science degree in parks and recreation management in 2004 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
 
Steele is a member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics, has attended various workshops and conferences given by the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), and is a graduate of the NCAA Leadership Institute.
 
The Harlem, New York native was a student-athlete himself, participating in the 1999 Final Four on The Ohio State University men’s basketball team.
 
In his free time, the father of three enjoys spending time with his family, including sons Marshall, Caleb, and Kendall and wife Monique, playing basketball, lifting weights and watching movies.
