CASTINE, Maine -- OJ Logue has resigned as the Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach at Maine Maritime Academy after two seasons at the helm. The move was announced by Director of Athletics, Steve Peed on Monday morning. Bryan Wolf, who served as the program's assistant coach for six seasons, was appointed as the program's Interim Head Coach.
   
    "I am stepping down to pursue other opportunities as the long-distance coach of the USA's Deaf Track and Field team," said Logue. "I wish Bryan great success with the team." Logue had coached the Deaflympics in Brazil back in May and plans to coach at the World's Deaf Indoor Track Championships to be held in Poland this fall.
   
In a two year stint with the Mariners, Logue has produced 26 NAC All-Academic selections, three NAC Second Team selections, and a NAC Senior Scholar Athlete. This year, both the men's and women's cross country teams were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams and senior runner, Ben Butterfield (Phillips, Maine) was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Scholar. The 2022 men's cross country team gave Logue his best finish with a thrid place final at the NAC championship.
   
    "It has been an honor to be the Head men's and women's cross-country coach for the past two years," noted Logue. "These student-athletes are simply remarkable. Aside from the highly successful running accomplishments, I am equally proud of both teams' recognition as USTFCCCA's All-Academic scholars and for Ben Butterfield's highly esteemed individual recognition for All-Academic Scholar."
   
    "I'd like to thank OJ for his service at Maine Maritime and wish him the best of luck moving forward," said Director of Athletics, Steve Peed. "I am grateful for the care that he placed in his approach to developing runners in his time at the Academy. I am equally grateful to have Bryan to turn to knowing his experience with the program and the care he placed in our runners and our team." 
   
Wolf has been with the cross country program for six years. In his time, he helped post two second place finishes at the NAC Championship for the men and a fifth place finish for the women. He also helped produce several NAC All-Academic selections, 12 NAC All-Conference honors, and four NAC Senior Scholar Athletes.
   
    "I'm excited and appreciative of the opportunity to take on this larger role as head coach," said Wolf. "We have a great group of athletes that are talented, hardworking, and committed to each other. It has been a privilege to work with team over the last six years as the assistant coach and I look forward to the many successes we will accomplish together in the future."
   
    Wolf intends to seize on the momentum that Logue generated within the program during his tenure.
   
    "Coach Logue was a tremendous asset to the team and his departure will not go unnoticed," noted Wolf. "Each person brings their own unique set of skills and experiences that cannot be replaced. It's been a pleasure working with him over the last couple of years and our student athletes have benefited from his involvement with Maine Maritime Academy Cross Country."
