DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College women's soccer team named Lucy Hutto as the next head coach of the program, Director of Athletics Mark Peeler announced on Tuesday.
 
"We are very excited to have Lucy return to a place that was so special for her," Peeler said. "It was perfect timing and fit for us and I am looking forward to her rejuvenating and rebuilding this program with her passion for Erskine women's soccer and its players."
 
Hutto, an alum of Erskine and four-year member of the Flying Fleet program, joins after spending five seasons at Gardner-Webb. During her time with Gardner-Webb, Hutto progressed her way through the coaching ranks, including being the interim head coach this past summer. She helped lead the Runnin' Bulldogs to three separate Big South runners-up finishes.
 
In those three championship appearance seasons, Hutto helped Gardner-Webb to an impressive 31-23-10 overall record, including a .620 (18-7-4) winning percentage in Big South play.

"Thank you to Coach Peeler and the Erskine community for the opportunity to come back and lead the women's soccer program," Hutto said. "It is an honor to return home and have the opportunity to give back to the program that started my career. I am eager to begin this new chapter!"
 
A native of England, Hutto made 50 appearances in her Erskine playing career (2013-17), including totaling 31 starts in midfield for the Fleet.
 
Hutto also has plenty of coaching experience on the club scene, spending time in the North Carolina Olympic Development Program, GCCSA, and United FC.
 
Hutto will turn her attention to preparations for the 2024 season, where the Fleet hope to qualify for the Conference Carolinas Tournament for the first time since the spring of 2021.
