Reyes named Regent University Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator

Virginia Beach, VA – Regent University Director of Athletics, Michael W. Allen, has announced the appointment of Katie Reyes as the department's new Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator. Reyes, a native of Elkton, MD, will begin her new position on January 3, 2023.

"It is with great pleasure to welcome Katie Reyes as the newest member of our Regent Royals family", said Allen, "She brings an extensive background and knowledge of intercollegiate athletics that will be a tremendous asset to our athletic department as we continue to grow. As a former NCAA Division III student-athlete, and most recently, an NCAA Division III head field hockey coach, there is no doubt Katie will help us 'move the needle' as we explore NCAA membership. As she moves into full-time athletic administration, there is no doubt she will be a tremendous resource for our coaching staff and student-athletes. Therefore, we are extremely excited to add her to our team here at Regent University".

Reyes was a standout field hockey player at Salisbury University from 2011-2014, where she served as captain and helped lead her team to the 2013 NCAA National Championship game. In addition, she received a 2013 NFHCA All-Region Second Team recognition and an invitation to the 2013 NFHCA Senior Game. Reyes was also selected to the Capital Athletic Conference All-Conference Second Team in the 2012 and 2013 seasons. After her playing career, Reyes returned to Salisbury as an assistant coach for the 2017-2018 seasons. In 2019, Reyes became the Head Coach at Transylvania University in Lexington, KY and also served as the Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Director. In just her first season with the Pioneers, Reyes had 11 student-athletes named the NCAA Division III All-Academic Squad, while eventually leading her team to a Southern Athletic Association postseason berth. She was also very active in the University's Coaches' FCA.

In addition to her experience as a coach, Reyes has been very active in collegiate athletics. From 2017-2022 she was a USA Field Hockey Futures Coach, obtaining her Level I and Level II licenses and in 2016 she was an attendee at the NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar. In 2019, Reyes became a USA Field Hockey Futures Regional Site Coordinator and completed an internship with Salisbury's Assistant Athletic Director, where she provided game-day assistance, oversaw athletic department app, promotion of student engagement at athletic events and created the Leadership Speaker Series. After her internship, she became a committee member of the Kentucky Chapter of USA Field Hockey, graduated from the NCAA Women's Coaches Academy and was selected as the Division III Representative for the NCAA National Tournament.
