Bill Schaefer Has Interim Tag Removed

RAPID CITY, S.D. –  On Tuesday morning, South Dakota Mines made the decision to officially remove the Interim tag and name Bill Schaefer the head coach.

"I am excited to continue in the role with South Dakota Mines and continue the growth and progress we have made."

Schaefer was named Interim head coach in August of 2023 and held the tag throughout the fall season and proceeded to lead the team through its best season since 2019.

The team won three games, most since 2019 and had a player named RMAC Player of the Week for the first time since 2017.
