Saint Joseph's University Vice President and Director of Athletics Jill Bodensteiner has announced  the selection of Theresa Luu '22 as the first head coach for Saint Joseph's women's golf program.

"I am thrilled to welcome Theresa Luu back to Hawk Hill! It gives me great joy knowing that the first ever St. Joe's women varsity golfers will be led by an extremely knowledgeable teacher of golf and a passionate graduate of our great University," said Bodensteiner. "Theresa shares our mission and vision for athletics, including the importance of the holistic development of our student-athletes. Theresa has described this head coach position as her 'dream job' - hearing that from your first head coach is a really awesome way to start a new program."

"I feel incredibly blessed and honored to be given the opportunity to build the Saint Joseph's women's golf program, and to coach and mentor student-athletes. I am extremely thankful to Jill Bodensteiner and her belief in me and my vision for the Hawks' program," said Luu. "I'm looking forward to cultivating a strong and positive culture, fostering creativity, and above all, creating an environment where every Hawk feels supported and motivated to reach their full potential."

An active competitor and coach, Luu provides more than 15 years of experience as the first coach of the Saint Joseph's women's golf program. A member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) as a teaching professional, Luu is the owner and instructor at NJ Golf Center, and works with Town and Country Golf Link and The First Tee of Delaware and Girls Golf program.

As an undergraduate at Saint Joseph's, Luu was a four-year letterwinner with the club golf program, and served as the team president as a junior and senior. Along with competing as a member of the Hawks' team, she oversaw scheduling, roster management, and budget responsibilities as president. A 2022 graduate of Saint Joseph's, Luu earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in marketing and a minor in communications.

Prior to Hawk Hill, Luu was a standout at Clearview Regional High School where she won the girls individual title at the Tri-County Showcase twice (2015, 2018), and was medalist at the 2018 South Jersey Girls Invitational and 2017 South Jersey Ladies Golf Tournament. Along with competing at the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions, Luu also competed on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, the American Junior Golf Association Tour, and at the New Jersey PGA and Philadelphia PGA events.

"I was filled with excitement when Saint Joseph's announced the addition of a women's golf team. This is something I had hoped for when I was attending St. Joe's, and I'm looking forward to making an impact on women's golf on the collegiate level and beyond," said Luu. "I'd also like to thank my parents, family, friends and mentors for the unwavering support. I am excited to cultivate strong relationships with the administration, coaches and student-athletes on Hawk Hill in my new role!"

Announced in October, Saint Joseph's will seek a conference affiliation for women's golf this coming year, with the aim to compete in a conference that sponsors women's golf as a championship team sport.
