VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Gallaudet University senior sprinter
Eric Gregory (Metairie, La.) wrote his name in NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track and Field history on Sunday when he set the new national record in the 300-meter dash with a time of 33.27 seconds.
Gregory won the 300-meter dash event at the Virginia Commonwealth University Indoor Invitational held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
Gregory erased the previous national record time of 33.64 seconds set by track rival
Cheickna Traore of Ramapo College of New Jersey. Traore posted his national record time last season on December 3, 2022.
The 300-meter dash time of 33.27 is also a Gallaudet school record.
Gregory wasn't done at Sunday's meet as he placed 10th in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.01 seconds, however he did not qualify for the final.

The next meet will be at the Robert Comstock Cardinal Classic on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m., hosted by The Catholic University of America in Landover, Md., at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex.
