Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of full-time, progressively responsible administrative experience in intercollegiate athletic operations, or a combination of education and relevant experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Comprehensive understanding of intercollegiate athletics administration, scholar-athlete development, NCAA compliance within a Division I environment
    • Significant experience in recruiting, hiring, developing, retaining, and evaluating coaches and staff members.
    • Previous collegiate coaching experience strongly preferred
    • Substantial experience in developing and implementing varsity athletics budgets and a track record of success in working with all financial aspects and management of athletics-related facilities and services.
    • Proven leadership and management skills, particularly as they relate to establishing and communicating priorities, advancing innovative practices, building strategic partnerships, and solving problems.
    • Straightforward communicator with highly effective written and oral communication skills with the ability to deliver information directly, in a concise, and articulate manner to multiple stakeholder groups.
    • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and a high degree of cultural competence and respect for a wide range of identities and experiences; Reputation as an inclusive decision-maker who is successful in being transparent and developing productive working relationships with staff and coaches.
    • Knowledge of and ability to implement and enforce NCAA and Conference rules and regulations.
    • Demonstrates a humble leadership style, characterized by self-awareness, openness to feedback, and a commitment to team empowerment and collective success.
    • Skilled in leading change and building a compelling case for what is needed.
    • Ability to partner with the Development Office to cultivate development opportunities for the College and the athletics program.

Working Conditions:

    • Frequent travel and work on evenings and weekends. Estimated travel: 30%
    • This position is based on the Stanford main campus

DAPER’s Integrity:

    • This position, along with all DAPER coaches and staff, is responsible for the integrity of Stanford’s intercollegiate athletics program, recreation and wellness department, and for the reputation of Stanford University. This position is responsible for ensuring that your involvement with DAPER activities maintains the integrity of the University’s reputation and does not negatively impact the relationship between the University and its faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Additionally, this position must comply with University policies and procedures, NCAA, and conference rules and regulations.

Pay Range:
 The expected pay for this position is $176,000 - $240,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
