Bimbi Inks Contract Extension

CHICAGO – Barry Bimbi signed a contract extension to lead the Rambler women's soccer program through the 2027 season, Loyola Chicago Director of Athletics Steve Watson announced Monday morning. Bimbi has been at the helm since 2011.

"We are excited to announce this well-deserved extension," said Watson. "Barry has created a winning program both on and off the field, and he recruits student-athletes who are the very best representatives of Loyola. We look forward to seeing Barry and his team continue to grow in the Atlantic 10."

Over the last 13 seasons, Bimbi has amassed over 110 wins and is the all-time winningest coach in program history. The Ramblers swept four straight Missouri Valley regular season and conference titles and qualified for the conference tournament in all but two seasons.

"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue to lead the Loyola women's soccer program for years to come," said Bimbi. "There is truly no other place I would want to be. Signing another contract extension means so much to me and my family, and I want to thank Steve for his support and belief in what we are doing with the program. Now in our third conference since taking over the program in 2011, my staff and I will continue to build a championship quality program to compete at the highest levels in the Atlantic 10."

In the first two seasons in the Atlantic 10, Loyola totaled 15 combined wins and earned a spot in the 2022 A10 tournament. Five Ramblers have collected A10 All-Conference honors, including the 2023 Rookie of the Year Award.

Prior to joining the A10, Bimbi led Loyola to four consecutive regular season and conference titles in the MVC. During that stretch, the Ramblers brought home three MVC Player of the Year awards, four MVC Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Coach of the Year honors. In addition to the major awards, the program tallied 51 All-MVC nods.

Bimbi coached two All-Americans in Megan Nemec and Abby Swanson. Nemec was tabbed to the United Soccer Coaches All-America First Team in 2021, while Swanson was named to the 2020 second team. Since 2017, the program has also had 11 All-Region honors.

Bimbi's career kicked off in the Horizon League where he piloted the Ramblers in their final two seasons in the league. The Ramblers tallied 14 wins over the two seasons and made the 2012 semifinal match. Seven Ramblers earned All-Conference accolades.

"Loyola is a fantastic university and being part of such a successful athletic department is very rewarding," continued Bimbi. "I am blessed to work with excellent administrators, supportive colleagues and staff, and the incredible student-athletes of Loyola women's soccer."
