Lincoln Memorial University Appoints Coach John Cash as Head Women's Volleyball Coach

Harrogate, TN – Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) proudly announces the appointment of Coach John Cash as the new Head Women's Volleyball Coach. Coach Cash, who has successfully led the men's volleyball program at LMU for the past seven seasons, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to the women's volleyball team.

Since his arrival at LMU in 2017, Coach Cash has transformed the men's volleyball program into one of the nation's most respected, with an impressive 100-43 (.699) record as the head coach. Under his leadership, the Railsplitters secured five straight Independent Volleyball Association (IVA) tournament championships, showcasing his commitment to excellence and winning culture.

Cash's coaching prowess has earned him three consecutive IVA Coach of the Year titles, and his 100th victory was a historic moment for the program, achieved at the 2023 IVA Conference Championship Finals with a decisive 3-0 sweep of Queens University.

LMU's success under Coach Cash extends beyond the court, boasting a remarkable 57-3 (.950) home record and holding the Nation's DI/II longest winning streak at 19 and the Nation's longest home winning streak at 26.

In his tenure, LMU has consistently ranked in the DI/II top 10 nationally in various statistical categories, showcasing the team's prowess in opponent hitting percentage, blocks per set, aces per set, and more.

The 2022 season marked a historic milestone with the completion of LMU's first 20-win season in program history, and the team's achievements were further recognized with multiple players earning All-Independent Team honors.

Coach Cash's impact goes beyond the court, as he has set a standard of success in the classroom, producing Academic All-Americans and receiving American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Awards.

Upon his appointment as the Head Women's Volleyball Coach, Coach Cash expressed his gratitude, saying, "I would like to thank Dr. Goins, the athletic staff, our board of trustees, faculty, staff, alumni, and most importantly our students at Lincoln Memorial University, for entrusting me with this opportunity." Cash also stated, "This is a wonderful and refreshing opportunity for myself and the team. As some folks are aware, my daughters both participated on the women's volleyball team here at LMU. They had a lot of on-court success, but most importantly, built lifelong relationships and friendships that have defined their experience here in a positive way."

He further added, "Our goal for this program is no different than any program I've ever been involved with. We will be holistic in nature, meaning we will care about who we work with, what we do, and how we do it on the court as well as the classroom, community, and most importantly our family and faith. These well-rounded foundations, along with a determination shift that cannot be denied, will lead to a championship culture that everyone strives to embrace."

Dr. Jody Goins, LMU Executive Vice President for Administration, shared his excitement about Coach Cash's appointment, stating, "Coach Cash has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a commitment to both athletic and academic excellence. We are confident that his passion for the game and dedication to holistic development will greatly benefit our women's volleyball program."

Coach Cash concluded with an optimistic outlook, "We are excited to get to work and build a winning, family atmosphere that everyone will enjoy and want to be a part of!"
