FRANKLIN – Franklin College Director of Athletics Lance Marshall has announced the appointment of Mackenzi Black as the new head coach of the women's golf program.

"I am thrilled that Coach Black will be joining the Franklin College family and leading our women's golf program," Marshall said. "She impressed throughout the search process and we trust that her passion and energy will lead the team to success both on and off the golf course. I am excited for Coach Black to continue to lead, grow and continue the proud tradition of our women's golf program."

A former collegiate player, Black honed her skills and passion for the game as a former student under long-time Franklin head coach, Roger Lundy. After completing her playing career, she moved into a role as a swing instructor and has assisted with players on both Marian and Butler University's women's golf teams.

"I am very excited for the opportunity to continue the legacy that Coach Lundy has left at Franklin with the women's golf program," Black added. "Roger made a huge impact on my life as my first instructor. I look forward to developing this program into something he would be proud of. I am grateful for the knowledge that Coach Stanjevich at Marian and Coach Cates at Butler have shared with me and am very lucky to have their support as I begin my own coaching journey."

After her playing career concluded, Black joined the Golf School of Indiana in Carmel as a swing instructor and continues to hold that position along with the title of club technician at Taylormade Golf in Carmel. Prior to that, she was a part of the Bridgestone Junior Golf Tour in Noblesville as a tour manager for competitions.

Her college playing career began at Division I Purdue Fort-Wayne and concluded at Marian University where she was named a team captain for her final year with the team. She completed her degrees from Marian in 2022, where she was a double-major in both sport performance and marketing.
