Carroll Hires Andy Kohel To Lead Pioneers' Men's Soccer Program

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll University's athletic department is proud to announce the hiring of Andy Kohel as the Pioneers' new Head Men's Soccer Coach. Kohel brings with him four years of head coaching experience at the NCAA Division-III level.

"It's an incredible honor to be named the next men's soccer coach at Carroll University. I would like to thank Director of Athletics Michael Schulist, Associate Athletics Director Mark Krzykowski, and the search committee for entrusting me to lead this program," Kohel said. "Carroll provides an exceptional platform for our student-athletes to thrive academically, athletically, and within the community. I am eager and committed to assisting our student-athletes in reaching their full potential, not only on the field but also in their own personal growth."

Kohel comes to Carroll after spending the last year as Head Coach of the St. Croix Legends of the USL League 2 in Stillwater, Minn. where he organized and led practices for up to 45 student-athletes to increase the competitive nature of the team. He also developed team strategy and recruitment plans.

Prior to his time with the Legends, Kohel served as the Head Men's Coach at Concordia-Moorhead in Moorhead, Minn. He has also served as the Head Coach at Johnson And Wales University in Denver, Colo., helping them transition from an NAIA program to one that competes in NCAA Division-III. In addition to that, Kohel has served as Head Coach for Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association, based in Hales Corners, and for the Colorado Rush Soccer Club in Littleton, Colo. as part of the United States Developmental Academy.

In addition to his head coaching experience, Kohel has served as an assistant at both Colorado College and his alma mater UW-Oshkosh. In eight years as an assistant coach, Kohel helped his teams compile an 89-28-20 record. A USSF 'B' License holder, Kohel has helped mentor six players to All-American status, while guiding five to Scholar All-American honors.

Kohel earned his Bachelor of Science degree in History from UW-Oshkosh, where he was part of the Titans' 2011 NCAA Division-III Final Four team. In his four years at UW-O, Kohel helped the team register an overall record of 52-16-11.

"I'm elated to welcome Andy to the Pioneer family. His vast experience in Division-III, coupled with his local connections and familiarity with Carroll University made him an ideal candidate," Carroll Athletic Director Michael Schulist said. "Andy's passion and determination were evident throughout the interview process, and I look forward to seeing those attributes come through as he begins to lead the men's soccer program."
