Ohio State’s NIL Collective Cohesion Foundation Hires First Executive Director

COLUMBUS, OH - Cohesion Foundation has hired Dan Apple as its first full-time Executive Director to lead the purpose-driven NIL Collective.

Apple begins the role February 1 and will oversee Cohesion’s mission to unify corporate leaders, alumni, dedicated fans, and charitable partners to ensure current Ohio State student-athletes across all sports can use purpose-driven NIL commitments to positively impact the community.

“We are fortunate to have been able to find such an outstanding individual to lead Cohesion Foundation,“ said Dominic J. Bagnoli Jr., M.D., Chairman of the Board.

In this new role, Apple will work with corporate leaders, alumni, and fans to create a base of fundraising to support Ohio State student-athletes earning NIL support through time and service in the community. Apple will oversee all aspects of Cohesion Foundation, including operations, non-profit partnerships, donor and business development, and NIL agreements.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this dynamic organization, working with some of the most influential leaders in Central Ohio and continuing the momentum of this collective,” said Apple. “This is such a critical time for collegiate coaches and players alike, and I view this as an honor to collaborate with The Ohio State University and build our business partnerships to lead NIL efforts in the nation.”

Apple previously worked as Senior Vice President, Ohio Commercial Real Estate Team Leader for First Merchants Bank in Columbus. Prior to that, he was President, CEO & Vice Chairman of the Board of Cooper State Bank, and Vice President with Unizan Bank in Columbus, Ohio.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Miami University (Oxford, OH), and his MBA from Capital University. He knows the importance of giving back in the community, serving in the Whitehall-Bexley Rotary since 1987 in roles including Foundation Chairman and Board Member, while also volunteering consistently with Cristo Rey Columbus High School, Life Care Alliance, and Habitat for Humanity.
