Bemidji State Football adds August 29 home game against Michigan Tech

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Football team will begin the 2024 season at home hosting Michigan Tech at 6 p.m. in a non-conference matchup at Chet Anderson Stadium on August 29.

Bemidji State and Michigan Tech matched up a lot leading up to the 1993 season as they played 30 times between 1955 and 1993. Michigan Tech has won the last four meetings in the series, while BSU is 5-9 at home in the series. The last meeting in 1993 was played in Bemidji with Michigan Tech claiming the 52-23 victory. The last win for the Beavers was in 1989 winning at home by a score of 26-14.

Michigan Tech went 5-5 last season and 3-2 on the road. They played current NSIC school Minot State claiming the 37-3 victory and former NSIC opponent Upper Iowa winning by three (34-31). The Huskies play in the GLIAC that features football powerhouses Ferris State and Grand Valley State. Against those teams last year, Michigan Tech lost to Ferris State (35-21) and Grand Valley State (44-13).

Bemidji State is coming off their third straight trip to the second round of the NCAA Playoffs in 2023. BSU hosted their first-ever NCAA second round playoff game against Central Washington. The Beavers opened the playoffs picking up the big 10-3 win at Texas-Permian Basin.
