Harrogate, Tennessee – Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Travis Muncy as the new Director of Athletics, effective immediately. With extensive experience in collegiate athletics and a deep understanding of internal operations, Muncy brings valuable insight and leadership to his new role.
Travis Muncy built an impressive background in golf coaching, having served as head coach of the men's and women's golf teams for the past two decades. During his tenure, Muncy has garnered numerous accolades, including being a five-time SAC Coach of the Year and leading the Railsplitters to multiple conference championships and NCAA tournament appearances.
"Travis Muncy has been an integral part of the LMU athletics community for over 20 years, and we are thrilled to welcome him into this new role as Director of Athletics," said Dr. Jody Goins, Lincoln Memorial University Executive Vice President for Administration. "His dedication to excellence both on and off the field, along with his deep understanding of internal operations, make him the ideal candidate to lead our athletics department into the future."
Muncy's impact extends far beyond the golf course, as he has demonstrated a commitment to fostering a culture of success and development among student-athletes. His experience as a collegiate athlete and his extensive coaching background uniquely positions him to support LMU's athletic programs and student-athletes across all sports.
"I am thankful and blessed for this opportunity to continue in athletic administration", said Muncy. "Since moving into athletic administration full time several months ago, we have made strides to improve the LMU athletic experience on and off the playing surfaces and with the help with everyone we will continue to push Railsplitter athletics as one of the top brands in the nation. I am a Railsplitter and we are going to continue to push and work for our first national championship!"
As Director of Athletics, Muncy will oversee all aspects of LMU's athletics department, including strategic planning, budget management, and compliance with NCAA regulations. His leadership and vision will play a pivotal role in advancing LMU's mission of promoting excellence in academics, athletics, and character development.
