| By:
OLD WESTBURY, NY – SUNY Old Westbury's Director of Athletics, Lenore J. Walsh, has announced staff promotions as a result of restructuring within the athletics department in both operations and reporting.

Chris Sacco has been promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Internal Operations. While remaining as the Athletics Compliance Coordinator for the department, some of Sacco's new responsibilities will include serving as a liaison for business and finance for contracts approval and permit rental committee requests, and coordinating team vans and bus transportation for all 12 intercollegiate athletic programs. Sacco will also oversee the athletic operations team in all matters including game day management of certain sport programs and will now supervise the Athletic Communications Department.

Sacco has been a member of the Panther community since August of 2016 where he was hired as the athletic department's compliance coordinator.  Sacco has helped shape the athletic department and was an integral part in bringing athletics back to campus post-pandemic.

Tom Pennino has been promoted to Assistant to the Director of Athletics for External Operations. In this new role, Pennino will continue to serve as the Athletic Equipment Manager and head coach of the softball program. Pennino will now oversee all outdoor sports venues, as well as field maintenance and preparation for practice, competition and any outside rentals. Reporting to Pennino will be the new Athletics Facilities Manager.

Pennino joined the SUNY Old Westbury athletic department back in August of 2019. Pennino was initially hired as the head coach of the Panthers' softball program. Pennino has had success throughout his time at the helm including back-to-back Skyline Conference playoff appearances in 2022 and 2023. Pennino led the program to their first playoff appearance in 10 years. In December of 2021, Pennino took on the role of Athletic Equipment Manager.

Walsh has also announced the opening of a brand-new position, the Athletics Facilities Manager which will be a 12-month, full-time position. This position will be responsible for the setup and breakdown of all intercollegiate home competitions. This position will also prepare the gymnasium and outdoor fields for the changing seasons, set-up outdoor fields for rentals, camps, clinics, intramural or internal events. In addition, the Athletic Facilities Manager will serve as a gameday administrator at all SUNY Old Westbury home games.

The Athletic Facilities Manager position will open in the coming weeks. More information will be available soon. Interested applicants should visit https://www.oldwestbury.edu and look at the 'Jobs & Careers' page for position specifics.
