Fiesta Bowl Invigorates Internal Business Model Through Senior Leadership Expansion

Hope Sharett, Esq., Pete Vazquez and Jamie Maddocks Infuse Valuable Expertise and Experience into Fiesta Bowl Leadership Team

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (February 12, 2024) – Positioning itself for success in a new era of college football while enhancing its ability to drive statewide community impact, the Fiesta Bowl organization bolstered its senior staff with the appointments of Hope Sharett, Esq. as chief legal & strategy officer, Pete Vazquez as vice president of finance & accounting and Jamie Maddocks as director of people & culture.

"As we set world-class standards to enhance and empower Arizona communities, Hope, Pete and Jamie bring unique talent, valuable experiences, strategic acumen and a commitment to community that position us to satisfy the needs of our stakeholders today and build sustainable business models for tomorrow."

Hope Sharett will serve in the newly created position of chief legal & strategy officer. In her role, she will guide legal strategies, public policy and strategic business initiatives intended to position the Fiesta Bowl as the nation's leading live sporting events and experiences organization while driving meaningful economic impact for the state of Arizona and providing unmatched charitable resources to our communities.

Sharett brings more than two decades of multifaceted experience in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Her most recent role was general counsel and corporate secretary for ASU (Arizona State University) Enterprise Partners, overseeing a family of companies that advance philanthropy, real estate, technology transfer, venture investment and applied research in support of the university.

Before moving to Arizona, Sharett led the corporate philanthropy program at Crane Group in Columbus, Ohio. Her background also includes serving as executive director at The Law and Leadership Institute, senior deputy attorney general for the State of Ohio and legal counsel to municipalities, school districts, public and quasi-governmental entities while in private practice.

Pete Vazquez will serve as vice president of finance & accounting. In his role, he will oversee the department's financial and accounting activities on a day-to-day basis in addition to spearheading strategic priorities that strengthen the organization's internal processes to drive greater efficiency to support its football and community initiatives.

Vazquez has served as controller at several organizations in the biomedicine, medical and education industries. Previously, he was controller for Biolab Sciences where he implemented a new enterprise resource planning system while managing service contracts, financial strategic planning and accounting activities.

Prior to Biolab Sciences, he served in education as senior director of finance with the Spring Education Group, a group that acquired and operated over 250 schools across the United States, China and Thailand, and Basis.ed Ventures, which manages the for-profit entities of the Basis Schools Network. While there, he integrated new technology and system processes as well as managing the acquisitions of new properties.

Having also worked at TGen and CVS Caremark, Vazquez brings vast knowledge with leveraging technology to maximize budgeting, forecasting and team management.
Jamie Maddocks joins the Fiesta Bowl organization as director of people & culture and is responsible for driving talent attraction, engagement, professional development, workplace culture and retention of the organization's staff.

With nearly 20-years of experience in human resources through a variety of sectors, Maddocks is well-versed in creating a positive employee experience that drives meaningful engagement and retention. She served as the human resource manager at KAEKO, Inc., an architectural, engineering and design firm, where she was the link between management and employees to execute KAEKO's human resource and talent strategy for current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention and succession planning. As director of human resources at Banda Group from 2015-20, she planned new employee orientation programs and updated the company's recruitment and training goals.

A certified Senior Professional in Human Resources by the Human Resources Certification Institute, Maddocks has gained experience working with numerous companies throughout the Valley and in Virginia. Maddocks' experience also includes stops in environmental consulting, home loans and project management.
