02.12.2024 | Women's Volleyball

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Danielle Marante has been named the new Head Volleyball Coach for UNC Asheville, announced today (Monday, Feb. 12) by Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone.

"Danielle emerged as the best candidate to get our volleyball program going in the right direction," said Cone. Her experience and track record of player development on and off the court will serve our program well."

Marante comes to Asheville from Division II Tusculum University, where she led the Pioneers to five straight South Atlantic Conference tournament appearances, capped off by a tournament championship this past fall. Marante compiled a 73-43 record through five seasons, including a 56-25 mark in conference. She leaves Tusculum with the fourth-most wins in program history and the fifth-best winning percentage (.629) in program history. She coached 15 All-Conference selections, five All-Region selections, three All-Americans and six All-Freshman players, including the 2019 South Atlantic Conference and Southeast Region Freshman of the Year Emiah Burrowes. Marante led the Pioneers to NCAA tournament berths in 2021 and 2023.

"I am extremely grateful and excited for this huge opportunity to lead the Bulldogs Volleyball Program. I want to sincerely thank Director of Athletics Janet Cone, Colin Smith, as well the search committee and staff for giving me this tremendous opportunity. I am truly looking forward to getting started with this talented and committed group of student-athletes. All in and ready to build champions on and off the court."

Prior to Tusculum, Marante served as the recruiting coordinator at Marshall University for two seasons.

As a player at the University of Tampa, she was a four-time NCAA Division II All-American. Marante holds a bachelor's degree from Tampa and a master's degree from Fayetteville State.

A formal press conference to introduce Marante as the Bulldogs' new head coach is set for Thursday, Feb. 15, at 10:00 a.m. in the Justice Center Gym. The press conference can also be viewed live online here.
