Nesbitt Steps Down As Truman Football Coach

Gregg Nesbitt has stepped down as head football coach at Truman State. The University made the announcement late this morning (Fri.). Nesbitt talks about the decision….

Nesbitt’s last 14 years was one of three stops on the Kirksville campus. He played for the Bulldogs and graduated in 1980 and returned to be an assistant on Eric Holm’s staff in the early 90s. Nesbitt says it was special to return, with his wife Jackie, as the caretaker of the program….

The Bulldogs won at least nine games the last four full seasons, including a 10-win season. Nesbitt says success in the program was winning on and off the field…..

Signing Day was Wednesday for a new group of Bulldogs. Nesbitt says the recruits were kept in the loop….

Gregg Nesbitt coached 148 games for his alma mater, the most of any of the previous 22 head coaches at the school. His teams went 89-59 overall and 52-23 in 11 seasons played under the Great Lakes Valley Conference banner.
