Jessup Golf’s Isaac Sanchez Announces Resignation as Head Coach

Sanchez took over the Warriors in May of 2021; The Warriors will look for a full-time replacement before joining DII in the fall

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Jessup Golf's Isaac Sanchez announced earlier this week that he is stepping down as the program's head coach. Sanchez, who was in this third season leading the Warriors, exits the program he took over in the summer of 2021.

Sanchez came to Rocklin in May of 2021 after former Jessup coach and alum Matthew Robinson announced he would be ending his tenure with the program.

The news of Sanchez's departure comes after the conclusion of Jessup's fall schedule. The Warriors competed seven times in the fall, including once at home on September 22 as part of a fall dual. Jessup ended their fall schedule with a trip to Hawaii as Sanchez set the Warriors up to compete twice on the big island.

Vice President of Athletics Lance Von Vogt commented on Sanchez's departure, stating, "Issac served as a catalyst to jumpstart our golf program over the past two-and-a-half years. We've made some significant strides and have a solid foundation to build on."

There were plenty of highlight moments under Sanchez's guidance. Jessup won their first team tournament under Sanchez in November of 2022 as the Warriors took first in the PCH Invitational, hosted by Menlo College. Jessica Burdick also earned hardware in her freshman year as she was named GSAC Freshman of the Year for the 2022-23 season.

Sanchez is a recognizable name in the golf community due in large part to his time competing on the Golf Channel's reality show Big Break. Sanchez made two appearances on the show, including once as the partner of NFL Hall of Fame inductee Jerry Rice.

The friendship with Rice has blossomed over time, as Sanchez has been seen sporting the Jessup logo each summer as Rice's caddy in the American Century Championship in South Lake Tahoe.

"We are grateful for all that Isaac has done, and he will be missed," added Von Vogt. "As we move forward, we couldn't be more excited to build on this foundation and plan to launch a national search to locate the right coach moving forward. The future is extremely bright for Jessup Golf."

The Warriors will not be naming a full-time replacement for Sanchez at this time, as an interim coach is expected to be named for the spring of 2023. Jessup will begin a nationwide search for the next head coach of Jessup Golf in the coming months.

Jessup University will wrap up its final NAIA season in the spring of 2024 before fully transitioning into NCAA Division II in the summer. Jessup will begin DII competition as a member of the PacWest Conference in the fall of 2024.
