12/5/2023 2:45:00 PM

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Anna McGann, who piloted Bedford High School volleyball to four straight NHIAA Division 1 state championships and an 80-match win streak, has been named the next head coach of the Saint Anselm College volleyball program, Vice President for Athletics Daron Montgomery announced Tuesday.

"We are delighted to welcome Anna to the Hawks coaching family," said Montgomery. "Coach McGann has been at the helm of a championship program for several years, and Anna's ability to create and sustain a culture of success distinguished her candidacy.

"Anna's passion for volleyball is unmatched, and she will undoubtedly build upon the Hawks accomplishments during recent years."

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Girls High School Region I Coach of the Year in 2023, McGann compiled a 123-17 overall record in seven seasons as head varsity coach of the Bulldogs, earning NHVCA D1 Coach of the Year honors in 2019 and finished runner-up in 2022.

"I want to express my gratitude to Daron Montgomery, Phil Rowe, the Athletic Department, and the hiring committee for giving me the opportunity to lead the Saint Anselm volleyball program. Also, to all my former players that I've been coaching over the past eight years. They have always been my 'why' and have shaped me into the coach that I am today.

"I am looking forward to empowering our student-athletes at Saint Anselm College, both on and off the court, and bringing a dynamic team culture to the Hilltop!"

McGann coached three Gatorade Players of the Year as well as three New Hampshire D1 Players of the Year. 20 student-athletes under her tutelage earned All-State recognition and 12 have gone on to play at NCAA Division I, Division II, and Division III institutions.

A former Northeast-10 student-athlete, McGann played collegiately for Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). She also serves as the Associate Director and Recruiting Coordinator for the Dynamo New Hampshire Volleyball Club. During her four seasons with Dynamo, McGann has coached the 16U, 17U, and 18U National teams.

The Saint Anselm volleyball program made four trips to the NCAA tournament over the past six seasons, twice advancing to the semifinals of the East Regional ('19, '22). Those same seasons the Hawks won a program-record 21 matches.

This past season, Saint Anselm finished 14-10 under the leadership of interim head coach Melissa Ouellet '15. The Hawks qualified for the program's seventh straight NE10 tournament appearance before falling in five sets to Bentley University, the 2023 NCAA Division II East Region champions.

McGann holds a bachelor's degree in Marketing from SNHU and resides in Manchester. She will begin her duties on Dec. 11, 2023.
