Walters Resigns as PBA Volleyball Coach

12/6/2023 12:13:00 PM

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball coach Doug Walters has announced he will be stepping down from his position, effective immediately.

"I want to thank God for the opportunity to serve these student-athletes and this program for six seasons," Walters said. "I am grateful to have had the chance to coach at Palm Beach Atlantic and wish nothing but the best for the program moving forward."

Walters leaves the program with a 90-64 overall record and a 50-48 record in the Sunshine State Conference. He led PBA to two berths in the NCAA national tournament, including his first season when the team went 29-5 with a 16-4 SSC record while earning the No. 1 seed in the region. Walters' second postseason berth came in 2021 when PBA went 18-14, being led by SSC Player of the Year, Jazz Schmidt.

"We are thankful for Doug's efforts in leading our volleyball program the past six years," PBA Athletic Director Courtney Lovely Evans said. "He has served PBA faithfully throughout his tenure. I am praying for him and his family as they navigate God's next move for them."

Walters recorded his 300th career collegiate win this past season. He's coached four all-Americans and eight all-region honorees during his PBA career. Two Sailfish volleyball players were named SSC Freshman of the Year. He came to PBA after 10 seasons at Cedarville where he finished with a 220-146 overall record.

PBA will begin a national search for a new head indoor volleyball coach immediately.
