Clark Atlanta University Selects Teddy Keaton as Head Coach of Panthers Football

Teddy Keaton selected as CAU Football's next head coach

ATLANTA, Ga. – Clark Atlanta University is excited to announce Teddy Keaton as the new head coach of the Panthers football program, effective November 27.

A press conference will be held on November 30 at 10:30 AM in the Epps Gymnasium, where Coach Keaton will be officially introduced. With a strong background in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), Coach Keaton brings extensive experience and a proven track record of success.

"We are thrilled to have Coach Teddy Keaton join Clark Atlanta University as the new head coach of the Panthers football program. His experience and success in the SIAC make him an ideal fit for our university. We are confident that Coach Keaton's leadership will take the Panthers to new heights. We are excited for the future of our football program under his guidance," said President George T. French, Jr., Ph.D.

Coach Keaton previously served as the head coach and quarterbacks coach at Allen University from 2018 to 2023. During his tenure, the Yellow Jackets achieved notable accomplishments, including an impressive 7-3 overall record in 2023, the program's best winning percentage since its resurgence in 2018.

Under Coach Keaton's strategic guidance, Allen University's football team outscored opponents with an average of six points (32.50-26.40) in 2023. The team also led the conference in yards per game, with an outstanding performance of 454.9 yards per contest. Notably, Allen University topped the league in passing yards per game, averaging 322 yards, showcasing Coach Keaton's commitment to excellence.

Coach Keaton played a significant role in the development of quarterback David Wright, who was crowned the 2023 SIAC Player of the Year. Wright led the conference in passing yards and total touchdowns, solidifying his place as a standout player under Coach Keaton's mentorship.

With an overall coaching record of 70-51, Coach Keaton brings a winning mentality and a wealth of experience to the Clark Atlanta University football program. He also served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance and Contracts at Allen University, contributing to the success of their women's basketball and softball programs.

Coach Keaton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education/Psychology from Stillman College. He recently obtained an Organizational and Strategic Leadership Certification from Harvard Business School and a Sports Management Certification in Sports Industry Essentials from Columbia University in the City of New York in 2018.
