CIRCLEVILLE, OH – Ohio Christian University is excited to announce the hiring of Brittany Lenz as the new cross country/track and field head coach. Lenz was named the interim head coach in August before officially stepping into the position this month.
 
"I am incredibly excited to continue my career with Ohio Christian university track and field and for the opportunity to give back to a program that means so much to me," Lenz said. "I would like to thank everyone that has believed in me up until this point and the past coaches that have influenced me during my time in this sport. I would also like to thank my fiancé Drake Dickerson for the love and encouragement he has given me as I pursued this position."
 
A graduate of Ohio Christian University, Lenz has been a part of the program in some capacity since 2018. Lenz competed as a distance athlete for the Trailblazers, during which time she was a National Qualifier in cross country, First-Team and Second-Team All-RSC in cross country and track as well as a Scholar Athlete. She also served as a team lead.
 
Upon graduation from Ohio Christian in 2022, Lenz stepped into a graduate assistant coach position. She will graduate with a master's degree in Advanced Leadership in May 2024.
 
Lenz is most looking forward to the opportunity to further the program that she has been a part of for so many years.
 
"I am incredibly excited for the athletes that I will be able to work with and to see them grow not only athletically, but spiritually, academically, and socially as well," Lenz said. "My goal is not only to prepare my students to compete well, but to ensure that they will be successful in all areas of their collegiate career."
 
Athletic Director George Arroyo Jr. is excited about the hire and looking forward to the success the program will have under Lenz.
 
"I'm happy that Brittany Lenz has been hired to lead the Cross Country and Track program. I've had the opportunity to observe Lenz as an athlete, assistant coach, and more recently, an interim coach," Arroyo Jr. said. "She continues to impress by the community she builds with those around her. Her passion for Ohio Christian, drive for student success, and dedication to her athletes is what sets her apart. The Trailblazers are stronger with Brittany Lenz as a head coach, and I believe the program to be in good hands for years to come as she and the team continue to strive for excellence!"
 
Lenz brings with her an entirely new coaching staff, led by her fiance Drake Dickerson and Acacia May.
 
Assistant Coach Drake Dickerson will help lead the distance athletes in cross country and track. Dickerson is an Ohio Christian alumni where he was a 7-time National Qualifier and a four-time RSC Champion amongst many other RSC accolades.
 
"I believe the team is heading in a great direction with this new coaching staff," Dickerson said. "We saw a lot of great progress from this young team in cross country and we are going to continue that this track season."
 
May is also a graduate of Ohio Christian and will be working as a sprints/jumps coach this track season. May was named All-RSC in both the pole vault and 400m dash during her athletic career with the Trailblazers.
 
"I am very excited to get to work with this team that means so much to me and continue to be apart of Ohio Christian University Athletics," May said.
 
Lenz and her team are preparing for the indoor track season, which begins January 20, 2024 at the Otterbein Invite.
