Wills steps down as head coach for Marian men's and women's volleyball

FOND DU LAC - Tyler Wills has announced his resignation as the head coach for the Marian University men's and women's volleyball programs.

"I am very grateful to Tony Draves, Jason Bartelt, Jordan Kington, and the entire athletic department for developing me as a coach and a leader," said Wills.  "I will forever be a Sabre fan and can't wait to see what these volleyball teams do next."

Wills exits Marian as the winningest coach in Marian men's volleyball history after boasting a 51-33 record, .607 winning percentage, over four seasons.  He helped lead Marian to a winning record in three of his four seasons with a pair of NACC Tournament appearances.  Wills led Marian to a program record for wins and winning percentage in 2022 after the Sabres went 23-8 overall with a 9-3 mark in NACC play, a record for conference wins in a season as well.  Under his leadership, the Sabre men's volleyball program would have eight all-conference selections and a CSC Academic All-District pick.

Wills took over the Marian women's volleyball program for the conclusion of the 2022 season and had an immediate impact on that program as well.  In his lone full season at the helm of Sabre women's volleyball, Wills led Marian to a 15-13 record with a 7-6 conference record this past season.  This earned Marian its first trip to the NACC Tournament since 2014 and marked just the second time the Sabres had a winning record in conference play in the NACC era.  It was also just the second time in the NACC era the Sabres had a winning overall record.  Marian had three all-conference awards including a pair of awards for Kaitlyn Merrill who became the first Sabre to earn multiple all-conference selections since 2014-15.

"Congratulations to Tyler on this well-deserved opportunity," said Director of Athletics Tony Draves.  "We can't thank him enough for all he has done to put both volleyball programs in a great position and for all of his contributions to our department and university as a whole.  Good luck in the future, Tyler!"

Jordan Kington will assume day-to-day operations for both volleyball programs while a national search is conducted for the next head coach.
