"We are excited about Thomas joining the DH athletics family" shared Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Eric McCurdy. "After a national search through Mammoth and Dr. Kurt Patberg, Thomas's background and values set him apart in aligning with our university and athletics vision. His extensive knowledge of internal operations will be extremely valuable as we restructure our facility and game operations. We look forward to welcoming Thomas and his family to the Toro Nation!"

He has served as a panelist for the Make Game Day Yours initiative at the 2023 NCAA Convention, assisted with coordination alongside the Kansas City Sports Commission of the NCAA Div. II women's golf east regional, and participated in the 2023 NCAA Inclusion Forum.

"It is an incredible opportunity that CSUDH Athletics has bestowed upon me, and I am excited about that. It is a wonderful place to be. It is a great day to be a Toro. Now let's make it happen!" said Balkcom on his new position within the athletics department.

He also graduated from the NCAA D2ADA Woman & Minorities Mentorship Program and the Doniphan Leadership program. He is an active member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA), and National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA)

His leadership and expertise in strategic planning, facilities management, fundraising, and student-athlete development will be crucial in shaping the future of the CSUDH athletics.

Thomas is known for his dedication to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes, and he has a proven track record of fostering a culture of excellence and integrity.

Balkcom holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Georgia Tech and a Master's degree in Business Administration and International Business and Finance from American Intercontinental University.

We are confident that Thomas Balkcom will continue to be a significant asset to our athletics program, and we look forward to his continued contributions.
