PORTALES, N.M. – Dr. James Johnston is appointing Michael Molina as the interim director of athletics for Eastern New Mexico University replacing outgoing AD Dr. Paul Weir.

Molina is in his fifth year in Portales after spending six years at California State University San Bernardino.

At ENMU, he has been tasked with launching the adidas rebrand, managing team travel, and overseeing budgetary matters.

For his first three years at Eastern, Molina worked primarily in facilities and event management.

He grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and holds additional experience at Cal State University Long Beach and University of California Irvine. He lives in Portales with his wife Brenda.

The search for the next director of athletics will begin in January 2024.
