PULLMAN, Wash. (December 22, 2023) -- Washington State University Athletics has entered into a two-year conference affiliation agreement to have 10 of its athletic programs participate in the West Coast Conference. The agreement will begin in fall of 2024.

"As we explore long-term solutions for the Pac-12 Conference and Washington State University, we appreciate Commissioner Stu Jackson and the West Coast Conference for their partnership in providing 10 of our programs affiliate membership," said WSU Director of Athletics Pat Chun. "The WCC allows an opportunity for our 10 teams to have access to championships as well as high-level competition."

The 10 Cougar athletic programs that will compete as WCC affiliate members include men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, rowing, soccer, tennis and volleyball.

"We are grateful to our student-athletes and coaches who have been patient and supportive as we work through the best path forward for WSU," Chun added.

WSU continues to work diligently to finalize the right competitive opportunities for the sports of men's and women's track and field, swimming and baseball.

Earlier this month, Washington State football entered into a scheduling agreement with the Mountain West Conference to provide six games, three home and three road, for the 2024 season.

Affiliate status through the NCAA allows for member affiliates to compete for conference and national championships.
