University of New Haven to Join ECC Esports

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – The University of New Haven has accepted an invitation to join ECC Esports beginning this Spring 2024 semester, the East Coast Conference announced on Tuesday morning.

The University of New Haven, located in West Haven, Connecticut, becomes the 15th member of ECC Esports and the league’s eighth associate member, joining Farmingdale State College, Florida State University, Mount Saint Mary University, New York Institute of Technology, Southern New Hampshire University, St. Joseph’s College (LI), and Utica University.

ECC full-time members Daemen University, University of the District of Columbia, D’Youville University, Mercy University, Molloy University, College of Staten Island, and St. Thomas Aquinas College also participate in ECC Esports.

“We are pleased to bring New Haven on board as a new member of ECC Esports,” said ECC Commissioner Dr. Robert Dranoff. “UNH is an excellent, innovative institution with a long history of excellence, and we have no doubt that they will contribute greatly to our conference.”

“The University of New Haven is extremely excited to be joining the East Coast Conference,” said Rob Holub, Associate Director of Enrollment Operations and Director of Esports at UNH. “We felt the growth of the conference, the strength of other member institutions, and the overall level of competition were major factors in our decision to join. ECC Esports is in the midst of its sixth season during the 2023-24 academic year. This season, the league will offer championships in both the fall and spring semesters in five different games (Overwatch 2, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Valorant, and Rocket League) and work with EsportsU to manage Esports operations and championships.
