Fernando Colon Tabbed to Lead Saint Peter’s Volleyball Program

JERSEY CITY, NJ. - Saint Peter's University Athletics has named Fernando Colon as the next head volleyball coach to lead the program. Colon brings over 17 years of coaching experience to Jersey City.

"I am beyond thrilled that Fernando Colon will be joining us here at Peacock Nation to lead our Volleyball program moving forward," said Senior Associate Athletic Director Cameron Harty. "Coach Colon has a proven track record of success and his ability to create a winning culture on and off the court will be extremely valuable."

The New Jersey native has built successful programs at both Bloomfield College (2021-22) and most recently at Ramapo College. This past season at Ramapo, Colon led the Roadrunners to a 25-2 campaign in his first year at the helm. The Roadrunners' 25 wins was their best in program history. Ramapo won the NJAC Championship for the first time in program history and reached the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second time in school history.

While at Bloomfield, Colon led the Bears to back-to-back CACC North Division Titles in 2021 and 2022, while guiding the team to two consecutive appearances in the CACC Championship match. Seven student-athletes under Colon's direction were named to the All-CACC Tournament Team.

Additionally, Colon was also the Club Director and 18s National Team Coach for Sureshots Volleyball Club (2018-2021), where he led the team to two USAV National Championship bids in 2019 and 2020. From 2008-21, Colon was the head girl's volleyball coach at Hudson Catholic High School. He was a three-time HCIAL Coach of the Year honoree and led his teams to the County Championship from 2015-2019 and the State Sectional Championships in 2016 and 2017.

"I would like to thank Senior Associate Athletic Director, Cameron Harty and Athletic Director, Katie Arcuri for trusting in me to lead the Saint Peter's University Women's Volleyball program. I am grateful and very excited for this opportunity," Colon said. "I am looking forward to building something special at Saint Peter's University."

Colon graduated from New Jersey City University with a B.A. in Business Administration in 2002.
