Ashan Jordan Named Head Men's Volleyball Coach

OTTAWA, Kan. – Ottawa University Director of Volleyball, Melissa Blessington, is pleased to announce the hiring of men's volleyball head coach Ashan Jordan. Jordan will also assist in the Student Affairs department as the Health and Wellness Coordinator.

"I am very excited to have Ashan take on the role of head men's coach, said Blessington. "He was on staff the past year and was remarkable in the development of the players. I have no doubt Ashan will continue to grow this program. It is always great to have former Braves stay and want to be a part of the volleyball program."

Jordan, before being named head men's volleyball coach, was a graduate assistant coach with the OU men's and women's volleyball programs. He helped with practices and worked with the volleyball program's community service projects.

Jordan was a four year letterman on the volleyball court of the Braves, earning First Team All-GPAC honors in 2022 and 2021 and Second Team All-Midwest Conference honors in 2019. He was named GPAC Attacker Player of the Week eight times, was team captain in 2021 and 2022, and was named NAIA Attacker of the Week in 2019. Jordan finished his career with 819 kills, 30 service aces, 420 digs, and 127 blocks.

"I am extremely excited to take on this new journey," said Jordan. "Ottawa has been a huge part of my development as a player and a person. I am excited to both teach and learn for the guys and our staff. This is an excellent group of guys who are willing and ready to put in the work to be successful, I can't wait see where this team is headed!"

Jordan graduated from Ottawa University with a degree in business administration with a concentration in leadership and communication. He earned his MBA in Health Population and Health Care Management. Jordan was a member of OU S.A.L.T and was classroom support at Eisenhower Middle School in Topeka, Kan.

Jordan will begin his duties on Tuesday, January 2. The Braves open the 2024 season at the Pirate Invitational on Friday, Jan. 26 in Parkville, Mo.
