Faulkner athletics announces staff changes

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner University athletics announced Thursday a series of staffing changes aimed to enhance the reach and function of its department. Faulkner University Athletic Director Hal Wynn appointed three individuals to the title of Assistant Athletic Director with varied responsibility sets for each.

Faulkner volleyball coach Tori Renda will add Assistant Athletic Director of Student Health and Wellness to her responsibility set. A member of the Faulkner family since 2005, Renda was already serving in the capacity of Senior Woman Leader for the department.

"Tori has invested a great deal of energy and effort into providing great experiences for our student-athletes regardless of the sport they play," Wynn said. "Her communication skills and compassion for young people are essential to our goals of continuing to improve the student-athlete experience."

Faulkner women's basketball coach Reed Sutton will add Assistant Athletic Director to his title with a special focus on Facilities. A member of the Faulkner athletics staff since 2010, Sutton started the women's basketball program and has routinely produced teams that excel in the classroom.

"Reed is a forward-thinking individual who does a great job with finding ways to make improvements even in the face of limitations," Wynn said. "Reed will be able to not only help with managing usage of our present facilities, but also in maintaining and enhancing our facilities moving forward. As we continue to grow, we need our facilities to adapt and Reed's role will help us be prepared to meet those challenges."

Wynn also announced the promotion of Jeremy Smith to the role of Assistant Athletic Director over Communications and Spiritual Formation. Smith, who began serving as the Director of Sports Information & Marketing at Faulkner in 2018, is a 2007 graduate of the university and is the preacher at the Lightwood church of Christ in Marbury.

"Jeremy has done a fantastic job developing and growing the Faulkner Sports Network, which consists of about 50 students," Wynn said. "That work has allowed him to create connections with many of our FSN workers as well as our student-athletes. This move will allow Jeremy to help develop chaplains within our department as well as continuing to use his ministerial counseling abilities to help our athletes and coaches."

The move of Smith to the assistant AD role also comes with two changes within the school's sports information department. Carter Moles, a 2018 graduate of the university, moves into the role of Director of Sports Information. Moles, who began his job as the school's Sports Information Specialist immediately following his graduation, has excelled in the athletic communications space, claiming numerous national awards in addition to being named 2020-21 Southern States Athletic Conference Sports Information Director of the Year alongside Smith.

"Carter is one of the best sports information guys anywhere," Smith said. "Everything we've accomplished as a department in the last five years has Carter's fingerprints on it. We have intentionally focused on getting him ready to be an SID somewhere and I'm really thankful that he'll get to serve in that capacity at the school he loves."
With the promotion of Moles, the school also adds Seth Page in the capacity of Sports Information Specialist. Page, a native of Belmont, Miss., graduated from the University of North Alabama in 2023.

"Seth is an incredibly hard worker with a variety of experiences working with coaches and student-athletes as well as athletic communications specialists. We are excited to add his talents to our staff and are really confident that he'll enhance our ability to provide excellent coverage and promotion of our student-athletes and coaches," Smith said. "In addition to enhancing our varsity coverage, we want to expand our ability to spotlight our junior varsity athletes. Seth gives us a great ability to achieve that goal as he is creative and dedicated."
