NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College Department of Athletics has hired Kaylyn Smith as Associate Director of Athletics, as announced by Director of Athletics Mo White on Monday.

Smith most recently served as an assistant AD at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass. She joins the senior management team at Conn and will provide oversight, supervision and operational direction to the department's 28 varsity sports programs. In addition, she will serve as the Senior Women's Administrator for athletics and liaison to the Dean of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Oversight.

"I am very excited to join the Camel Athletics family as the Associate Athletics Director," said Smith. "I am looking forward to working with the student-athletes, coaches and campus community here in New London. Thank you to Mo White and the entire search committee for all their support during my interview process. I can't wait to work for Conn and in the NESCAC."

At Wheaton, Smith took over as the Assistant Athletics Director of Facilities and Operations in the fall of 2015, before being promoted to Assistant Athletics Director of External Partnerships in 2021. In that role she was responsible for developing a corporate partnership program to generate external revenue and community support. She also served as lead support for the athletic communications office and coordinated the athletics department social media account.

Smith was previously the Assistant Commissioner and Senior Woman Administrator at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). Her responsibilities included oversight of the conference's athletics communications and social networking efforts, supervision of the CCC awards program and conference championship administration. She also served as advisor to the CCC Student Athletic Advisory Committee, while also working closely with the CCC's Senior Woman Administrators and various coaching groups.

Prior to the CCC, Smith served as the Assistant to the Director of Athletics at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA), an opportunity that was made possible through the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women in Sports grant program. At MCLA, Smith played an active role in student-athlete leadership, sports information, rules compliance, marketing and promotions, special events, staff supervision, and contest management. During her final year at MCLA, Smith also served as the interim head women's lacrosse coach.

Smith is a former collegiate basketball and field hockey player at Western New England University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2010. She went on to receive her Master of Education degree in Physical Education/Athletic Administration from Springfield College in 2012.
