Waxahachie, TX – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) announced the resignation of Head Football Coach Greg Ellis Monday. Ellis had led the Lions football team for two years. SAGU was 11-10 in the past two seasons, finishing 7-3 in the 2022 regular season and qualifying for the NCCAA Victory Bowl versus Olivet Nazarene University.Â
"SAGU is extremely grateful for the time that Coach Ellis gave to SAGU and our football program," stated athletic director Dr. Jesse Godding. "Coach Ellis did a tremendous job leading the program through a difficult time and SAGU wishes him success in his future endeavors."
SAGU will begin a search for a new head coach immediately.Â
